Alice wanders...

Over the last few week's I've been toying with the idea of going to see a production of 'Alice'. I'm curious about this particular production as it's now in it's fifth year and I love Lewis Carrol. 'Theatre in the Parks' (a partnership project between Spike Theatre, the Liverpool Culture Company and Knowsley MBC) are performing this at Tam O’ Shanter Urban Farm at the end of the month... This is a walk around production and will be performed regardless of weather conditions.... I'll take loads of pictures... can't wait.... *Oh! What Fun!*

Digital BirdSong

Over the last few weeks I've become unable to sleep without the gentle sounds of the UK based digital radio station called 'BirdSong'. Some of you may be aware of this station. It's exactly what it 'states on the tin'... It's just birdsong... *a sky of honey, a sea of honey, tweet, tweet, crow, crow* - I was alarmed to find out that it may be taken off the air to be replaced by a commercial radio station.' God knows how it makes any money but it's absolutely ace. Anyway, here's an article that I thought might be of interest to you. Please support the station.... I love it!

Midlake

Urm? I guess my tastes changing, it must be Summer. I've noticed that most of the bands I'm listening to lately are based 'State-Side'. I guess that tell's you something about the pathetic output of the UK of late. This is pure Texan, Sunday afternoon, Psych-Pop. Why does it seem like we're having a psychedelic resurgence of late? Or is it just me turning into an old hippy? - 'Urm! On second thoughts don't answer that question'.

ReverbNation

If anyone is using the ReverbNation player on the main site if you'd like to make any suggestions of anything good to add to it, or if you've uploaded any of your own work (If you haven't 'why haven't you?'), I'd love to add some more tunes. I have to admit I'm finding it pretty difficult to delete things once I've added them... anyone else having that problem... Send me you thoughts, comments, help etc via this thread.

Fleet Foxes

You'll get used to me Blogging about new musical discoveries. Here's an absolutely stunning new addition to the 'aural jetsam'. There from Washington and have recently signed to the Bella Union Label in the UK. Let me know your thoughts. 9/10 in my books.

Please visit their MySpace Site for more information and other tracks. Sadly there's no video available for this track at the moment so this is purely 'audio only'. http://www.myspace.com/fleetfoxes

Solstice 2008

Well rather than throwing ourselves into the madness, mud and rain of Stonehenge or Avebury Patsy and I headed West to catch the first ray's of sun on the Isle of Anglesey. Bryn Celli Ddu roughly translates to 'mound in a dark grove' - (That's probably completely wrong so don't use me as an internet source of wisdom.) The sun very nearly struggled above the horizon but seemed to give up the ghost and slipped back behind it's blanket of clouds rather than join us to celebrate the longest day. For all you fact feinds Bryn Celli Ddu apparently started as a late Neolithic henge or ritual enclosure, with a stone circle surrounded by a bank and internal ditch. A later passage grave was built inside the ditch; the north-east entrance to the burial chamber is retained by a kerb of stones, which with the dry-stone walling of the outer passage, creates an elaborate forecourt. The narrow passage (a torch may be useful) is 8.2m (27ft) long and 0.9m (3ft) wide with a low shelf along its north (right) side. This leads to a higher, polygonal burial chamber, 2.4m (8ft) wide, covered by two capstones. In the chamber is a tall, rounded, free-standing pillar, whose purpose is unknown.

Oh! Might I just add a huge thanks to Ceri, Ian and Jess for their amazing hospitality and an 'out of the blue, unexpected tasty breakfast'... (We are forever in your debt!) xxxx

Wirral WebCams

Just found our closest webcam's on the internet. I'll try to capture an image of Patsy and I walking the dogs at some point. It's actually quite entertaining having one so close by, save's having to go through the effort of looking out of the window to see what the weathers like.

There's actually about four within about 3 miles of here. One's mounted on the top of Leasowe Lighthouse which is just about visable from the roof of our house should you wish to climb up there.

Website Logo

Just designed my WebSite Logo so I'm popping it here for safe keeping. I'll embed a hyper-link into the source code so it rattles it's way back to the http://www.blurbvurt.co.uk/ site when clicked. The weird thing about writing a Blog is that you end up feeling like you are talking to yourself most of the time. My therapist say's that it's perfectly normal and human to have such delusions.

BlurbVurt - What's in a Name?

Load's of people keep asking me 'Why did I choose BlurbVurt as an on-line name?'
Well, I first stumbled across BlurbVurt's in a Jeff Noon novel called 'Nyphomation'. It's a great read but very hard to describe without rambling on for hours- so I'll paraphrase) It's a complex piece of Cyber-punk involving some, if not all, of the following aspects; Lewis Carrol, Manchester, mathmatics, lottery mania, marketing, genetic engineering, polution, drugs, fractured mirrors and twisted political symbolism. BlurbVurt's are genetically engineered Flying Insects that buzz around your head chanting slogans like 'have you had an accident in work' etc. You can imagine how incredibly annoying that could become in hot summer months, bug breeding season, especially as people around you are starting to sneeze themselves to death due to a problem with genetically manufactured pollen. Ah!, the fractured mind of a genious.

I highly recommend reading anything by Jeff Noon. Here's a byte-size morsel from the outer sleeve of his floppy novel 'Nyphomation''

The air of Manchester is alive with blurbvurts, automated advertisements chanting their slogans. But the loudest of all is for Domino Bones, the new lottery game. Every Friday night the winning numbers are illuminated on the body of Lady Luck, the voluptuous figurehead of the game. For the winner, it is unimaginable riches, for the losers another week to wait for the bones to fall again. But there is only one real winner, The Company, which plays the city's fragile expectations with callous ease. A group of mathematics students are looking at the mind-numbing probabilities involved and searching for the hidden mysteries behind the game. They watch the city at work and at dangerous play and slowly uncover the sinister realities behind the mania. The Company is devouring Manchester - it has the nymphomation, an evolutionary process which has the power to take over the city's dreams...

Jupiter or Earth

I took one of these pictures from my garden a few years ago during an oncoming storm. The other is stolen from the NASA website.
You decide which?

Half Man Half Biscuit Ringtones?

God only knows why I looked this band up on Google today, just as a matter of curiousity I suppose and their from Birkenhead. What struck me as funny when I eventually stumbled across their official website was the crazy pop-up's trying to sell me poly-phonic ring tones of the bands work. The thought that such a thing should exist in the first place is in itself mildly hilarious. I guess Ringtone programmers really do have too much time on their hands.

Is there anybody out there?

I always like to know if there's anyone watching me. - Just checking if any of you are making the effort! *giggles* - Say 'Hi' and make my Day :o)

There WAS a quiet 'BIG BANG'

Space is a vacuum... so that first massive explosion must have happened as silently as a bear breaking wind in the woods. Welcome to my BLOG. We've been here and done this before so I'm not going to rant on for hours in my first post.

I'm having some hassles with Software Platforms not supporting each other, so this is the only way to get a BLOG linked to my site. If anyone knows any other way... please inform me... sorry about the multiple windows if you've got here via the www.blurbvurt.co.uk site. If you're trying to do things via the 'free method' then you have to go thru this type of nonsense.
